Island Garden City of Samal is a 2nd class city in the province of Davao del Norte, Philippines. The name is often abbreviated into IGaCoS. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 82,609 people in 17,388 households.
The Island Garden City of Samal is now a part of (Metropolitan Davao) Metro Davao.

Museum
Babak, the mystic district of Samal, is getting better and better. More stores, more services, more amuse¬ment and now surprising: An Antique Museum!!! Visitors have now one point they don’t have to miss in proper Babak. Pamela (37) a Filipina and Adrew (35) a Greek have passions for history and were able to collect many oddities, mostly from Mindanao. The exhibits for the museum must be older than 100 years and all other things between are collected to show the link between two epochs. Pamela knows so many stories about history of the Philippines that visitors are fascinated and listening up to closing time. And if you like to hear more background about the exhibits, rent one of the three rooms and stay overnight. Andrew has restored furniture’s many years in different countries and continues his talent now in Samal. He restores, buy and sell antique items. Diving
According to divers, the true garden of Samal Island is under water. The dive spots are not too far and the time to travel will be by speedboat maximal one hour. In Davao are some dive shops like “Wind and Waves”, “Carabao Diving” and a lot more. As Samal Island reaches to a higher level “Sancho Diving”, a diving shop, opened a small branch on the beach from Precious Garden. Now you can have it all easier: Scuba diving, Snorkeling and diving equipment for rent, island hopping and a lot more. The diving spots are in the back of Samal near Big Ligid Island and in the south by Talicud Island.

A two-month summer tourism campaign dubbed as Visit Samal 2011 is now happening at Samal Is¬land. The Department of Tourism with the LGU Tourism of Samal Island and the Resort Association of Samal lead of this marketing campaign. Different events and wonderful activities happen between the months of March to May this year. The said months are declared as Summer Tourism Month contained in resolution no. 250 in the local council of the city.
